IVF Boom

Through debates in high school, through ethical lectures in college, and now even a whole topic on it on my Japanese Language textbook, it just goes to show how the world perceives the subject of human cloning and related technology, like IVF and etc, as something interesting, if not, something which is more disadvantageous than beneficial.

Everyone talks about ethics, human emotions, the superb technology with different viewpoints from all directions.

IMO, anything that deals with the creation of human life by a human life through superficial and artificial means just doesn't seem right. NOT because of religion. NOT because of ethics. BUT, simply because......there's a flaw with the TECHNOLOGY itself! The whole balance of the world, of the human race is at stake.

Let's just state for example, a sterile couple undergoes IVF in order to get a baby. The baby is also at a high risk of being sterile, and when he/she grows up, has to make use of IVF in order to get a baby of his/her own. That baby's baby may also grow up to be infertile. It's just a vicious circle which knows no end. The whole human population would one day, be totally dependent on IVF and maybe in the near future, some technology which is more advanced. And eventually, a day might come when human cloning no longer seem incorrect in any form.

If no limitations are made on the free usage of IVF and other similar technologies, it is absolutely safe for me to say that the human race has to brace itself for a IVF boom. Sure, good thing for the medical industry. Loads of money flooding in. Humans would have claimed to have been successful in conquering the way of nature.

And, all at the risk of disrupting the balance of human life on Earth.

It would be different if they were even close to having the technological ability to perform proper cloning.

But the experiments on the sheep and amphibians have not been successful as of yet soooo until they gain the knowledge to do cloning it is a moot point and a subject for the realms of science fiction.

It is the same as cold fusion. Something for research but probably nothing that will happen until we learn a lot more about the world around us and that will be a long way down the road.

People are more worried about surviving the hard times than scientific advances.
